Google implements cost-cutting strategies after job cuts: Cafes and small culinary facilities will be used

Google has now revealed cost-cutting initiatives that include a focus on prioritising its work in artificial intelligence after making significant employment losses earlier this year (AI).

Google's chief finance officer, Ruth Porat, and the search lead, Prabhakar Raghavan, on behalf of all PA and Functional heads, announced the announcement in a memo.

The message stated, according to Business Insider, "This effort is particularly critical given our recent expansion, the hard economic situation, and our amazing investment opportunities to propel technology ahead — particularly in AI."

In response to the new mixed workweek, the corporation would alter its office services, according to the memo. Decisions will be based on data, and cafes, microkitchens, and other amenities will be modified to better match how and when they are being used.

"For instance, if a café experiences significantly less business on particular days, we'll close it and place more of an emphasis on the well-liked nearby possibilities."These cost-cutting measures were implemented a few months after Google revealed its plans to eliminate 12,000 workers.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai explained in a memo that the business has assessed its priorities, products, and workforce, which resulted in job losses across all industries and geographies. He acknowledged the new economic realities the business was dealing with and accepted full accountability for the choices that had brought them to that situation.
